Visitors and how to find us

VISITORS AND HOW TO FIND US

We can be found at 21 Chestnut Road, Brockenhurst, Hampshire, SO42 7RF. We recommend if travelling by car from the east, leave the M27 at Junction 2, follow signs for the New Forest and the heavy lorry route. From the West we are 5 miles north of Lymington. There is a mainline rail station with trains direct from Waterloo, just a few minutes walk away.

Since we are situated at the top of a small close, please use the village carpark, again only a few minutes walk away for parking.  There is limited space for disabled parking close to the house.

Our opening times for 2023 for the National Garden Scheme are as follow:

Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th April

Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st May

Saturday 11th and Sunday 11th June

Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th July

The garden is open from 11.30am to 5pm

It is always advisable to check up to date opening times prior to travelling and full details can be found at

We welcome visitors and their dogs on short leads.

There are normally plants available to purchase and of course no visit would be the same without sampling our home made cakes and teas.

We now have the facility to take card payments and through the National Garden Scheme website tickets may also be purchased in advance. The cost to enter is Adults £5 and children Free.

Due to your generosity in the past we have been able to donate over £50,000 and look forward to welcoming both old and new visitors again in 2022.

Both Mary and Iain look forward to sharing their private garden with you and at the same time contributing to the many Charities that the NGS support.

Last year in 2020, despite much disruption, £2.88 million went to nursing and health charities.

Macmillan Cancer Support £425,000, Marie Curie £425,000, Hospice UK £425,000, Carers Trust £340,000, Queen's Nursing Institute £370,000, ParkinsonsUK £157,500, Perennial £85,000, Horatio's Garden £75,000, plus other smaller bequests.

Since opening in 2006, 21 Chestnut Road has raised in excess of £47,000 for Charity.
